01.TEACHING
Teaching
A commitment to reflective, equity-centred early childhood teacher education
My teaching is rooted in community-based ECE practice — curriculum design and delivery at the Jean Tweed Centre for Women and Their Families, practicum supervision of pre-service ECE students in complex family support settings, and community education for families and youth. Each of these experiences has deepened my conviction that teacher education must be grounded in the lived complexity of practice.
Across all of these contexts, my approach is grounded in a belief that early childhood educators are intellectuals who bring irreplaceable practical knowledge to the field. My role is to create conditions in which that knowledge is honoured, examined, and extended — through critical theory, reflective practice, and genuine dialogue. I design learning experiences that model the values I hope my students will one day bring to the children and families in their care: inquiry-driven, trauma-informed, equity-centred, and relationally safe.
