Course Description
An upstream prevention curriculum for youth aged 12–16, co-developed with a registered art therapist. Designed to support emotional regulation, self-expression, and relational safety before young people might require more intensive mental health and substance use support.
Original upstream prevention curriculum co-developed with a registered art therapist at the Jean Tweed Centre (2022), following Kristin’s formal training in expressive arts therapy. Designed for youth aged 12–16 who may be at risk of requiring more intensive mental health and substance use support.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Use art-making as a tool for emotional expression and regulation
- Develop vocabulary for naming and communicating internal states
- Practice relational safety in a group context
- Build self-awareness and personal strengths through creative inquiry
